Pricing
Pay for talk time. Nothing else.
Free to start, three plans to go live. Sona answers, books and transfers the same on every paid tier. The price changes with how much it talks, how many lines it covers, and how long we keep the records.
Minutes are metered per second. Unanswered and blocked calls cost nothing.

How billing works
Four rules, no asterisks.
PER-SECOND METERING
Billed to the second
A 90-second call costs 90 seconds. Ringing, unanswered and blocked calls cost zero. We never round a wrong number up to a whole call.
REPEAT-DIALER PROTECTION
Floods stop at the door
A number that keeps redialing your line is blocked before it reaches the AI once it passes the per-caller limit, and blocked calls don't touch your minutes.
HARD SPEND CAP
A ceiling on every account
Every account ships with a daily spend cap. If traffic spikes, Sona falls back to voicemail instead of running up your bill.
FREE TO START

Pricing FAQ
The fine print, out loud.
What counts as a minute?
Talk time on your Sona number, metered per second from pickup to hangup. If Sona warm-transfers a caller to your team, the bridged part of that call counts too, since it runs on the same line. Calls nobody answers, and calls blocked before they reach Sona, never count.
What happens when I use up my minutes?
Calls keep getting answered and the extra time bills at your plan's per-minute rate: 40¢ on Starter, 30¢ on Pro. Your dashboard shows a live usage meter, and every account has a daily spend cap, so overage is something you watch happen, not something you discover on an invoice. We never auto-upgrade you to a bigger plan.
Do unused minutes roll over?
No. Plans are priced assuming you use them, which is what keeps the included rate under the overage rate. If you're consistently under, drop to a smaller plan; overage on Starter often beats a half-used Pro.
Which number does Sona answer on?
One that comes with your plan. You search an area code in the dashboard, buy the local number there, and assign your receptionist to it; each plan card says how many numbers it includes, and further ones are a per-number add-on. Your own line keeps its carrier: set conditional forwarding on it so Sona picks up when you're busy, closed, or away, and turning that off is one dial code.
Is there a contract?
Monthly plans cancel anytime and run to the end of the cycle. Annual pays for 10 months and runs 12. There's no setup fee either way.
How do we get started?
Create a free workspace — no card — and get it ready: your knowledge base, your booking availability, your team. When you pick a plan you create your receptionist (greeting, opening hours, a voice), choose the local number Sona answers on and assign your receptionist to it; forward your existing line to that number whenever you are ready. There is no setup fee and no onboarding charge: you pay the subscription and nothing else, and monthly plans cancel anytime.
What does the Free plan include, and what doesn’t it?
Your workspace: the knowledge base, booking availability and your team. What it does not include is the receptionist itself or a phone line, so it answers no calls — agents and numbers come with a plan. Keep it as long as you like; upgrading keeps everything you set up, and if you ever cancel a paid plan the workspace returns to Free rather than disappearing, with your agents switched off and kept until you pick a plan again.
Why per minute instead of per call?
Because a 20-second wrong number and a 6-minute booking are not the same product. Per-call plans charge you the same for both. Per-second metering means short calls cost cents, and the dashboard shows the billable talk time of every call.
We're a medical or dental practice. Can we use Sona?
Not for patient calls yet. We don't offer a business associate agreement (BAA) under HIPAA today, and without one our Terms don't allow protected health information through Sona. Talk to us before you set anything up, and we'll tell you what it can and can't do for your practice.
What don't you do?
Sona doesn't send SMS, doesn't make outbound calls, and never takes card numbers over the phone. Those are compliance choices, not gaps in a roadmap, and they're why the plans can stay this simple. It isn't an emergency service either: it is instructed to tell a caller who describes an emergency to hang up and dial 911.
Start free. Go live when you’re ready.
Create a workspace and get your knowledge base and team ready at your own pace. When you choose a plan you build your receptionist and pick the local number Sona answers on, and everything you set up carries over.
Your line keeps ringing where it does today until you forward it to Sona.
